Boys Tennis Earns First Valley District Win

The Harrisonburg High School boys tennis team opened Valley District play with an impressive 6–3 victory over East Rockingham on Tuesday in Elkton, marking their first district win of the season.

The Blue Streaks were led by Tristan Nussbaum, who secured a dominant 8–1 win at No. 1 singles. Strong performances continued across the lineup, with Gabe Sabarre, Joel Friebe-Makinto, and Edwin Martinez each earning singles victories to help build the team’s advantage.

Harrisonburg carried that momentum into doubles play. The No. 1 team of Nussbaum and Sabarre earned an 8–5 win, while Friebe-Makinto and Alvarado Leon delivered an 8–2 victory at No. 2 doubles.

With the win, the Blue Streaks improve to 1–1 overall and 1–0 in Valley District play. Harrisonburg will return to action on April 14 at home against Rocktown.

Congratulations to the boys tennis team on a strong start to district competition!
