Girls Tennis Open Valley Play with Dominate Win

The Harrisonburg High School girls tennis team opened Valley District competition in impressive fashion, defeating East Rockingham 8–1 at home on Tuesday.

The Blue Streaks controlled the match from the start, sweeping singles play behind a series of strong performances. Nora Von Rotz led the way with a commanding 8–0 victory at No. 1 singles, while Phoenix Seidel (8–2) and Valentina Pimentel Yoder (8–3) added wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Milana Utekeyeva earned an 8–2 win at No. 4, Annie Snow secured an 8–5 victory at No. 5, and Finnly Miller closed out singles play with an 8–4 win at No. 6.

Harrisonburg continued its momentum in doubles competition. The No. 1 team of Von Rotz and Yoder captured an 8–6 win, while Utekeyeva and Snow delivered a dominant 8–0 victory at No. 2 doubles.

With the win, the Blue Streaks improve to 2–1 overall and 1–0 in Valley District play. Harrisonburg will return to the court on Thursday at home against non-district opponent Stonewall Jackson.
